KNOWING, EXPERIENCING AND GROWING IN JESUS CHRIST
By Ron Fischer © 2007

Jesus Christ said that knowing him and his Father God who sent him is eternal life. To know Jesus is the result of establishing a relationship with him that is based on revelation from God and trusting (surrendering of our lives) to him which can take a little time. The best way to build trust or faith in Jesus is to read the four Gospels in the Bible (New Testament), listen with your heart to Jesus words, and consider his lifestyle and what he offers you. When you have gained enough trust in Jesus then you can repent of your sins and surrender your life to him. Jesus will give you the Holy Spirit and you will experience God’s presence within you as a deposit and guarantee of eternal life. You can read another article I wrote called 'How To Find And Experience God For Yourself' that explains my story of how I began my relationship with Jesus and received the Holy Spirit as my helper, guide, teacher and friend.

Once you have the Holy Spirit, there are some things you can do to continue to experience Jesus and grow in him. If you have not been baptized in water then I encourage you to do so in obedience to Jesus. Our relationship with Jesus revolves around trusting him with all our heart and surrendering everything to him on a continual daily basis. These things can be done on our own as well as together with other believers. With other believers there seems to be a stronger dynamic and presence of Jesus at work in believers and through them.

Here is a list of some things you can do daily to experience Jesus and grow in your relationship with him:
1) Ask God to show you if there is anything in your life that you need to confess as sin to Jesus and repent from so you can be made clean before God.
2) If there are any agreements you have made with the devil (agreeing with his lies or any ungodly personal vows you've made), break those agreements and vows, and agree with the truth of Jesus and declare your total allegiance to him.
3) Submit (surrender) yourself to Jesus and resist the devil and he will leave you. Surrender everything to Jesus - your mind, body, emotions and life - give it all too him because he loves you.
4) Invite Jesus to come, and listen with your heart where he resides by the Holy Spirit. Write down the thoughts, pictures, or feelings he gives you (journaling).
5) Worship Jesus with songs of praise, gratitude and love. Enjoy your time with him.
6) Read the encouraging words of God and Jesus recorded in the Bible and personalize it for yourself. Allow yourself to accept and believe in your heart what you are reading as being true for you.
7) Love and adore your heavenly Father and Jesus who loves and adores you. Do this throughout the day. Enjoy his love for you and let him know how much you love him in your life (soak in his presence).
8) When difficult trails come (and there are always plenty), surrender them to Jesus knowing he will help you by his grace (empowering presence). Trust in Jesus more than your understanding, knowing that he loves you and is for you and will deliver you in due time.
9) Deal with any false beliefs (lies) as they occur in your mind by focusing on the lie, asking God to show you where it originated then listening with your heart for God's truth until the lie is gone (renewing the mind). For difficult situations go to someone who has been trained in Theophostic Prayer Ministry to get a breakthrough.
10) Look for God’s goodness and kindness in everything and appreciate and thank him for it whenever you recognize him at work in it.
