WORSHIP AND SOAKING PRAYER
By Ron Fischer © 2004
Why should we praise and worship God?
- Praise expresses the greatness, mercy and faithfulness of God, which encompasses singing, shouting, instruments, clapping, dancing, and celebrating.
- Worship expresses our gratitude and love towards God which encompasses singing, adoration, surrender, bowing, raising our hands, and loving the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.
What happens when we praise and worship God with our whole being and a true heart?
- He manifests his presence and power by the Holy Spirit coming into our midst.
What is soaking in the God's presence?
- Quieting our soul and lingering in the manifest presence of Jesus by the Holy Spirit.
- Expectantly waiting on the Lord to receive from him as we focus on him.
- This is also referred to in the Bible as waiting on the Lord, drawing near to God,
approaching God's throne of grace, standing on Holy ground, communing with God, fellowship with the Holy Spirit, abiding in Christ, dining with Christ, and Jesus being in our midst.
What is prayer?
- Humbling ourselves before God knowing our need of him and dependence upon him.
- Communicating with God on behalf of others and ourselves.
How do we soak in the God's presence
?
During Bible Study - read a few verses, quiet our soul, focus on the Lord, and expectantly wait on the Lord to receive.
This is also referred to in the Bible as meditating on Word of God, washing by the Word, and renewing of the mind.
During and after Praise and Worship - listen to worship music, quiet our soul, focus on the Lord, and expectantly wait on the Lord to receive.
During Prayer - while receiving extended prayer by the laying on of hands, quiet our soul, focus on the Lord, expectantly waiting on the Lord to receive.
This is also referred to in the Bible as laying on of hands - for healing, being continually baptized or filled with the Holy Spirit, receiving from the Holy Spirit.
What can happen while we soak in God's presence and receive prayer?
- By the gifts of the Holy Spirit we can receive a revelation of truth by thought, word, picture, or vision.
This is also referred to in the Bible as being guided into truth, teaching by the Holy Spirit, and being led by the Holy Spirit.
- We can receive emotional and physical healing, and freedom from bondages.
- We can experience the fruit of the Holy Spirit (love, joy, peace, etc).
- We can be comforted by the Holy Spirit.
- We can be caught up into heaven.
- We can be continually baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit in order to minister and pray with power and boldness.
How long should we soak in God's presence and receive prayer?
- Long enough to quiet our soul, and sense the presence of God.
Soak and receive prayer as long as we want and as long as we sense he is doing something in us.
What does the presence of God feel like?
- A sense of peace, comfort, love, and/or joy.
- A sense of power surging through us which brings change in our life and those we pray for.
A sense of joy and laughter bubbling up from deep down in our tummy.
A sense of conviction and holiness causing personal and corporate repentance.
A knowing in our spirit that we are in God's awesome presence.
At first you may not sense anything but in time you will, and you will also see positive changes in your life and other's people's lives that you pray for.
How do we know it is God and not something evil?
God says when we ask him for something that he will give us good things, the Holy Spirit, the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and the fruit of the Holy Spirit. We need to trust God to do this.
God says that we can tell by the fruit whether it is good and from God or evil and from the devil.
Sometimes a demon in someone may manifest and react to the presence of God because it does not like it. In this case simply command the demon to stop manifesting in the authority of Jesus name so that God can do what he wants to do. If a demon does not comply then simply command it to go directly to Jesus Christ to be judged for defying Jesus authority. It will go as we stand in Jesus authority.
How often should we soak in God's presence and receive prayer?
We can never get too much of God so the more we soak in His presence, the more we will receive and the more our life will change.
